Shattered!

So, we got our day out today and I had a fabulous time.

We went into town first and met up with Percy and his Mum Fi, then went off to Auntie Kim's house to meet up with her, Holly and Milly for a fantastic walk across the fields.
I was a little bit naughty when I chased a hare and then later on when I chased a bird ... but I always returned to Mum.  I thought I was especially clever on the second occasion when I crossed a ditch to chase the bird and managed to find my way back again.

All in all a great day, and it was lovely to see everyone again.  Now I'm ready for a big sleep before dinner.

The promise of a day out

Have you ever been promised 'we're off out for the day' only to find that it never happened?

That was us on Sunday.  We headed off after breakfast (a little late I thought) to spend the day at the Yorkshire Game Fair and to see loads of friends who were on the WSSC stand in the gundog tent.  We got to within a few miles of the show and sat for an hour with lots of other cars.  Mum and Dad said we still had 4 miles to travel before we got to the show and that it could take us another couple of hours, so they decided we would turn around and go home!

Luckily we were not too far from home, so we stopped to buy some food for a picnic lunch and went to Clumber for a walk.  I'm quite pleased we did in a way because Auntie Debbie told Mum that it was very hot at the show and it was VERY busy so I wouldn't have enjoyed myself as I'm not too fond of crowds.

Anyway, today we have been promised another day out and this time I think it's going to happen.  Why?  Well, because Murphy and I have been brushed and had our teeth cleaned, Mum has made cake (a sure sign she's meeting friends) and some yummy smelling liver cake has come out of the freezer as a treat for us.

I will keep you updated!!  It's so exciting!!  I know it sounds like I never go anywhere and I do, but I just get very excited when we meet up with friends.

Dirty Face

It may be dirty but still looks very cute

A first time for everything

We had Nana staying with us this weekend as Mum and Dad went to Ireland (I still haven't been there) to see more of my human cousins.  They had a nice time, and so did we - we get lots more biscuits when Nana's here and Murphy gets to snooze in the lounge in the afternoon.

Yesterday evening we delivered her to Tigger's house as she is going to be looking after him for the rest of the week (she's so in demand these days we have to book her in advance).  It was good to see him and we had a bit of a play in the garden and then Mum took us inside for a treat.  She had brought a Bonio for each of us although Tigger had already tried to steal them from her bag when we arrived.

Anyway, here's the thing ... Mum gave me my Bonio and Tigger tried to take it from her instead.  She said 'no Tigger this one is for Merlin' and he tried to take it out of my mouth!  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!

I have to say it wasn't my finest moment - I growled at him - but then I was so shocked as no-one's ever tried to do that before.  Mum quickly gave him his own Bonio which he promptly took to his bed to eat in peace.   We got over it all and managed to have another game in the garden before we had to leave for home.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say, that whatever complaints Dad has about the state of our lawn, he should see what Tigger's done to his.  It has a huge hole in the middle where he digs and it's all ripped up around the edges where he runs around in circles.

Temporary residents

We went back to our favourite field in Cumber this morning and found that the regular summer residents have arrived again.  Mum says they are English Longhorn Cattle and usually very friendly.  We didn't see them this morning (it's a big field) but we saw where they had been, if you get my meaning.

Anyway, enough about them, Murphy and I had a lovely walk in the sunshine (it started to rain on the way home, so well timed Mum), and I have to say I think I look pretty handsome today.
