Rainy Day

It's Friday and it's pouring with rain this afternoon.  We've done then usual trip to Holt for some shopping and now I'm back in the 'van munching on a hide chew which Mum says will keep me quiet until dinner time.

OK, so you can't see I've got a chew, but I wasn't going to give it up just so mum could get a picture now was I?

We did manage to get a walk on the beach this morning before the rain came and before we were drenched by the tide which was coming in quite fast.  Mum had her camera with her (quite rare) and was hoping for some nice shots of me in the sea.  Unfortunately, the one below taken with her phone was the best she could get because I was 'naughty' (her word) trying to chase all those pesky little birds that kept dive-bombing me all the time.

Felbrigg & Sheringham

Today it was really warm again, so we went to Felbrigg Hall for a lovely walk across the fields.

We met this guy on our walk, but thankfully he was behind a fence!

After lunch it was on to Sheringham Park for another stroll.  It started to rain not long after we had set off, so we didn't get far - far enough though for Dad to get these

He likes a pose!

RNS Part Three

So here are some photos of us around the show...

There's just so much to see ..
.. here's some of the sights

The piggy show ring was right outside the food hall -  a little unfair I thought

Mum says she can do this
How cute is he?

This is a Poitou Donkey foal - look at those ears, they're huge!
There's always some showjumping going on, and we always watch!
For all you Petrol Heads out there

Heading back to the car at the end of the day

We are online!

Mum's bought some tinternet access so I can post some photos of us on the beach.

This is Sea Palling

He's a real Beach Bunny - loves it!

Me?  I just love the chance to run about

RNS Part Two

We went back into the show after lunch and saw a Welshie! Mum went over to ask if we could say hello, but I couldn't wait so dragged Dad and Murphy over too. I was so excited (Mum said I had my waggliest tail all day) I forgot to ask his name. Once we had got him all excited and bouncy we left - well he had one of those baby thingies with him.

We sat and watched some horses jumping (Mum!) and after a while headed back home to the 'van for a snooze before dinner. Being on holiday can be exhausting.

Norfolk Leg

We are on the second leg of our holiday and arrived in Norfolk yesterday. We have an enormous pitch for our 'van and after helping to put up the awning we headed straight for the beach.

Today we have come to the Royal Norfolk Show which is very big and full of horses, pigs, sheep and a few dogs. Just having lunch, so more later.

Lions

I've just spent the last two hours listening to Mum (English) and Dad (Irish) shouting at the telly watching The Lions play Australia at rugby.

The outcome - Lions won 23 : 21 but I must state very clearly ..  it was the Welsh Boys wot won it!  Well played Leigh Halfpenny and George North.

Go Lions!!!

Pit Stop at Home

So we are home again and have a couple of days to swap empty biscuit tins for full ones and to restock the fridge before we head off again next week.
It was a bit of an epic journey because the motorway was closed and we had to drive through the center of Huddersfield.  Luckily Mum knows the town quite well, so it was fine although very busy because lots of other cars and lorries had the same idea.  We could have called in to see Tigger as we almost passed the end of his road, but he lives on a very steep hill  and Mum didn't fancy parking the 'van on it!

Anyway, as promised here are some pictures of our adventures last week.

Lowther Castle

Me at Sizergh Castle just before I headed off across the field!

Famous bunny

Today we tried to visit the house of Peter Rabbit but sadly couldn't find anywhere to park the car (tiny car park and narrow lane = tricky with big car) so went on to Hawkshead.

Mum went shopping! She wasn't gone long but managed to come back with a big bag of new clothes and some special biscuit treats for us: Fish Fingers and Bourbons - both yummy.

After another picnic lunch we went for a walk along side Grasmere and I had a big swim.

We are heading home tomorrow and then off to Norfolk next week.

Two castles in one day?

After lunch we went to Wray Castle which we have been to before and really like.  It is on Lake Windermere so Murphy had a paddle while I went swimming.

Another day, another castle

Today we are st Sizergh Castle and have already done a 3km walk across the fields. I say walk ... it was until in the middle of a photo shoot I took off after a bird with Murphy and Mum in hot pursuit.

I have to say  I haven't seen Mum run that quick for ages! We continued our walk once she had got her breath back and are now having lunch in the sunshine before heading off again.

Holiday

We are on holiday in The Lakes and today has been a scorcher! We went to Lowther Castle which is a ruin but so beautiful - Mum said like in a fairy tale. The gardens are being restored so we were allowed to go anywhere we wanted, as long as we kept Mum and Dad on leads.

We are back at the 'van now and I've had my dinner so I'm off for a snooze before bedtime!

Pictures of Lowther will appear when we get home - no tinternet here we're in the middle of nowhere surrounded by sheep and cows and two black Labs next door. They're not as nice as Inca and they bark at me when I go past ... but then I am well able to bark back!

Training

Yesterday I went along to a lesson with Charlotte and I have to admit it wasn't my finest hour and a half!  I was happy to be there because Auntie Kim and the girls were there, although Milly stayed with Murphy in the cat whilst Holly and I had the lesson.  There was also three new spaniels I hadn't met before - Twig, Penny and Bob - all much younger than me and Holly and very bouncy.  I was feeling very shy and didn't really say hello to any of the newbies.

We started with some heel work (mine wasn't very good) and then moved onto some hunting which Mum and Charlotte said was good.  Then we came to the 'rabbit on a string' which tests our steadiness and because Charlotte said Holly and I are 'advanced' (bit of a shocker) Mum and Auntie Kim headed off down the field and left us on our own.

I was VERY good and didn't go after the rabbit, but I am ashamed to say I didn't like it when Charlotte stood near me at the end of the exercise.  In fact I felt so uncomfortable that I re-positioned myself further down the line away from her and waited for Mum to come back to me.  Mum said I was being silly and she doesn't understand why I am scared of Charlotte as she is nice and has never been cross with me.  I agree with all of that, I just sense that if I was really naughty Charlotte wouldn't be happy and I don't want that!

I think I can safely say yesterday was not my best day .... still we're off on holiday tomorrow!  Yipee!!

Wet days and holidays

We've just has an enormous rain storm with all that thunder and flashes that both Murphy and I hate.  Mum braved the rain to move some of her plants so as they would get wet - and so did Murphy although he was only outside for a few seconds (just enough time to have a very quick wee!).

It's all very different to the photo we received this week from Percy who is on holidays with his Mum and having a fine time by all accounts ..

We are going on holiday next week to the Lake District.  I hope it stops raining!

Mum's Day Out

Yesterday Mum had a day out on her own when she went to Bramham Horse Trials.  Murphy and I stayed at home to keep Dad company - Mum said it was too warm for Murphy and there were loads of people and other dogs there, so I was quite pleased I didn't go with her - I'm not very good in crowds.

We were represented as a breed though because she saw a Welshie in the crowd, sadly for her he was too far away to say hello too.  She was gone all day, and took some nice photos of the jumps, starting with a showjumping class in the main ring ...

Triple
First Fence

.. then she made her way out into the park for the cross country, and this is where I get a bit confused with some of the jumps.

These two seem fine - good solid brush fences

but then this one is a bit worrying - it can't be a real dog kennel can it?

This jump is just silly.  Everyone knows you can't have a jump made out of ice cream!

Mum took loads more photos and has posted some on our gallery page (because she says we've not put anything on there for ages!  Never mind we are going away in a couple of weeks, so we'll have loads of pictures to share.)
Here's a link to the gallery http://gallery.welshspringers.org.uk
She's filed them under the album Days Out

New walk

We've found another new walk very close to our home.  It's a reclaimed mining area and full of birds and lakes.  More importantly it's almost opposite the lovely ice cream shop which is a favourite lunch time spot for our humans.
Of course, we couldn't keep this valuable find to ourselves, so on Tuesday we were joined by Dougal, Inca and Aunty Debbie.  It was lovely - very warm though so it was nice to have a paddle in the lake, although some of us (Inca and Dougal) managed a full swim!

Look who came for breakfast

There we were, quietly having breakfast this morning when a stranger came into the garden and started to  help himself to our bird food

You can imagine my confusion.  Have you ever seen a pigeon that colour before?
