Chillin'

Just catching up on some sleep after our mid-week holiday with Aunty Debbie, Fergus and Inca.

We've had a great time in Northamptonshire staying on a lovely site near Bulwick.  It was really quiet with the most fantastic dog walk ever.

The Fab Four
Keeping watch
Waiting for Breakfast
On Thursday Fergus and Inca put their crate in the back of Mum's car

and we all went to Barnwell Country Park

where it has to be said, some of us swam more than we walked and then got told off for not responding when called by Mum .....I did when Aunty Debbie called me though and then went home to the van for a big sleep.

Murphy and I had a lovely time and would like to thank Fergus, Inca and of course Aunty Debbie for being such great company.

It was nice to come home yesterday to see Dad - poor chap had been left on his own all week and said he had missed us.  Our next mission is to take him back to where we stayed because I want to show him the dog walk and Mum said there are some nice pubs with great food there too.  Typical!

It's always the same

With just two sleeps before we go away, out come the scissors and brushes because Mum says we have to 'look smart' on holiday.  I don't know why but I think it is because she's afraid we will look scruffy if we meet any other Welshies which we often do.

Hey ho, the positive is it's only 2 sleeps to go!!

Going away?

Mum says we are gong away for a few days next week with Aunty Debbie.

This is the first I've heard of it, but she says there are only 4 sleeps before we leave so I am go to spend today getting her organised to be sure we have all our important stuff packed like food, beds, biscuits, leads, treats, towels, treats  ... food.  Have I missed anything?

Today's walk

Today we went to the Idle Valley Nature Reserve which is quite near us.  We only did the Lakeside walk today which is about 2 miles - last time we came I think we took a wrong turn and went right out into the country for what seemed like miles!

There was lots to see and sniff out - you know the usual stuff like rabbits and birds, ducks etc.

On the way home we also passed another place called Daneshill Lakes Nature Reserve.  We didn't stop for a walk to day but did see this sign

Burghley House

Mum went to Burghley with Toria on Tuesday.  She has been loads of times before with us but never around the house and gardens.

They went into the Surprise Garden and also the Sculpture Garden and got these shots with her phone.  Now Dad wants to go with his whizzy camera!

This is Toria at the 'Tree with Mirrors'.

A wheel-type thingy from the front and  the side.  Strange?

Finally, a couple of those perspective ones ..

Thank goodness for the Landy

When we went to the beach on Friday we went through Louth.  Today the local news is reporting that Louth had flash floods on Friday.

We know because we went through one outside of the town.  Lots of cars were turning around because they couldn't get through the water, but not us.  Oh no, not us we have our trusted Landy and he can go anywhere ...especially with Mum driving!

Friends visiting

We have had a really lovely two days with Milly and her hoomans.

On Thursday we had a nice walk in the cool woods and then spent the afternoon playing whilst the hoomans sat around chatting, drinking tea and eating ice cream.

Yesterday we went to the beach and had a fabulous time even if it was windy and very rainy ...who cares when you can run along the sand and charge into the sea with your mates?  When we got back to the car Mum dried us off and put our coats on to keep us warm while they all huddled under the gazebo for a barbeque.  Dad did a great job of keeping the food dry and hot, so well done to him ... although I didn't see any of it come our way.

Here's a photo of us all just before we hit the beach.  It was taken at the third attempt of getting us all to sit still so well done Dad for getting this, even if Fergus and Dougal are looking the wrong way!

Busy day at home

We were out this morning with Mum and then home to look at her 'To Do' lists in readiness for the next couple of days.

What is happening I hear you ask?  Well, we are having two days out with the usual Gang of Four and Milly who is visiting Aunty Debbie with her hoomans for a couple of days.  So, naturally Mum has been very excited and making lists everywhere (as is her way, bless) to be sure we have everything with us we could possibly need ... and some other stuff no doubt too.

So that means for tomorrow it's agility jumps and poles with some yummies (liver cake I think)  for those of us with 4 legs who will have a go.  Also I've made sure she has packed dinner bowls for us (we have spare ones at home for tonight) and also planned what we are having for our dinner.  Very important.   For Friday, which is rumoured to be a day at the beach, we are taking the gazebo, chairs, bbq, food and loads of other stuff.

I can't wait and have had to go for a snooze this afternoon .....

Dad's been away for a few days so has missed all the excitement.  He is back this evening, so I must remember to tell him to pack his camera .. as if he needs reminding!

See you on the other side!

Peace and quiet

Mum and Aunty Debbie went out (again) yesterday.  They visited a local Japanese meditation garden and said it was very peaceful and calming.

Mum took a few photos, the best one being this

Dad gave her 9 out of 10 for composition but only about 6 for overall quality ... apparently she should have changed the settings on her camera.  She whispered to me later it was on automatic so she has no idea what he was talking about!  Still, good effort.

Town walk

Mum had to go into town early this morning, so we went with her and ended up having our walk for the day there.  This is not my favourite walk I have to admit, but the castle grounds as a backdrop does make for a nice photo op.

You could have hidden our leads Mum, even though we both seem very interested in anything but you!
