Fergus the Dog

I may have already posted about Fergus' plans for the summer to walk the 190 (!!!) miles from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay.

Apart from liking a good walk, he is also going to be raising money for the Animal Health Trust and their fantastic work with dogs and especially their ongoing research into glaucoma in Welshies.

Fergus has his own section on the AHT Fund Raiser page which you can see if you click this link and he also has his very own Fergus the Dog fund raising page at the Virgin Money Giving site which you can see if you click here.

I will be posting regular updates and photos from along the route (subject to t'internet access for Aunty Debbie) but for now thought I would add here a map of the route that Mum found courtesy of www.c2cmswalk.org

The walk starts in June and Murphy and I would just like to say good luck to Fergus and his hoomans, we very much hope they have nice weather (all their training has been in lovely weather so we doubt that will continue) and we can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.

Weekend away

We had our first weekend away in  the van and took it to Bulwick on Friday afternoon.  It was great to be back - I think the site has our favourite dog walk.

On Saturday morning after the hoomans had partaken of what i am told was a really yummy breakfast at the farm shop cafe, we had a walk to the next village which is Laxton.  We have a Laxton close to home, so now I can say I've been to two of them.  This one has a nice village green where we sat for a moment in the sunshine

When we got home dad fixed the car.  He had noticed one of the tyres was looking poorly on Friday evening, so he changed it while Murphy and I sat in the sunshine and watched..

.. although I did get a bit bored after a while so Mum got some toys out for me to play with.

We had a very slow journey home on Sunday but arrived safe having enjoyed our weekend away.  I can't wait to go away again, which rumour has it will be back to Northumberland and all those lovely beaches around Bambourgh and Beadnall.

Biscuits

Mum has a new recipe - Carrot and Oat biscuits and they are soo yummy.  Only trouble is every time she makes a batch she gives loads away to our friends ....

....okay so I know I should share but why can't she make more??

Day out

We had a lovely day out last Thursday when we met Aunty Debbie, Fergus and Inca for a walk at Ostlers Plantation in Woodhall.

Although it was quite a warm day we had the whole wood to ourselves and never saw anyone until we got back to the cars.  That was great for me because it meant that Mum let me run free for the whole walk ... and I was very highly praised too as I was a good boy and went to her every time she called me.

After we had finished our walk the hoomans did what they usually do and had lunch.  After that we went back to Fergus's house to hear more about his planned summer walk and for Aunty Debbie and Mum to talk about making leaflets and stuff to tell everyone what the chap is planning.

So here it is.

Not content with leaving his walking talents at the Norfolk Coastal Path, in June and July Fergus is taking the hoomans  on a 190 mile walk from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay.  This is called Wainwright's Coast to Coast and is being done to raise money for those lovely people at the Animal Health Trust (AHT) who have done so much to find out about the causes of SCI and glaucoma in dogs.

Fergus will shortly have a fund raising profile on the Meet Our Fundraisers page of the AHT website  at this address http://www.aht.org.uk/meetourfundraisers
If you would like to help support the AHT you can through his Virgin Money Giving page at
http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/FergusTheDog

I will be posting regular updates both here and on my Facebook page, so watch this space!
