Bank Holiday Weekend

Raining as usual, but we still went out yesterday to Belton House to have a walk in a different place than usual.

Guess who made the front page?

Did you dear reader see the Horncastle News on Wednesday 19th August?  Well if you didn't, here is a look at what you missed

A few photos

We left for home today but not after a lovely walk at Wakerley Woods where we managed to get this group shot courtesy of Aunty Debbie as Mum was too slow with her camera.

Monday's view of the dog walk

Chilling on Tuesday afternoon before heading out to meet friends

Waiting for Mum to finish the washing up last night before heading out for one last time before bed

We've had a lovely time away and are looking forward to meeting up with everyone again in a couple of weeks.

Week away

Monday and Mum packed the car ready to head off for a few days away at the van.  Dad had gone to see his family in Ireland on Sunday, so he wasn't going to be left home alone which I was pleased about.  We had some errands to do on our way, so arrived just before midday - about 5 minutes before the rain.

It rained all afternoon with the only bright moment being the arrival of Aunty Debbie, Fergus and Inca.  Around 5pm the rain stopped for about 10 minutes, so we went out for a play in the dog walk.

Tuesday was a much nicer morning. We went to Lyveden New Bield but instead of walking around the site, we went for a walk along a bridleway and across some fields.  We met quite a few young pheasants and a horse.  The afternon was spent snoozing as we had a date to meet 3 girls for a walk at 6pm at Wakerley Woods.  Lily, Flo and Gwen brought their hoomans Fiona and Paul with them. Thanks to Aunty Debbie's navigation we had a lovely walk for about an hour and then met Uncle Dave and Max at the Queens Head in Bulwick for the hoomans to have dinner.

They were all quite excited as Tuesday is steak night and apparently the steaks are 'divine'. Personally I couldn't comment as we never got any.... #notimpressed.

Today is Wednesday and after being woken up early by the wind and rain we eventually set off for a picnic and walk at Burghley.  A lot of the park was closed as they are putting the cross country course together for next week's horse trials, but we managed to have a good wander around. Guess who left her camera at the van?!

We all head home tomorrow but I am hoping there will be enough time and sunshine to get a group photo before we leave.

Mum at home

She's been busy and out every day this week, so I was thrilled to see hear she was to be at home with us all day today.

Not long before I was beginning to wish she had gone out when I heard the words 'Merlin come for a brush' which always means so much more.

Rumour has it that I will be back on the table over the weekend as I have to be 'smart' to go on holiday next week apparently.

Celebrity amongst us

Now I am just a normal chap and would have to admit that I don't really know anyone famous ... until this weekend that is.

The AHT have issued a very nice press release about Fergus' walk - total raised currently stands at £1,300.   His local newspaper the Lincolnshire Echo has picked up the story and included an article in their Friday 14th August edition.

Click here for a link to the article ... please do not be alarmed by the headline  'Fearless Fergus fights back from the brink of death' he is fine!

Weekend

We are just back from a short weekend at our 'van and imagine my surprise, when I spotted Aunty Debbie, Fergus, Inca and Max at the site too.  They have their 'van next to ours for this month, but this is the first time we have all been there together.  Uncle Dave was away for the day but arrived back just in time for a big welcome and a barbecue.

This morning, after the hoomans had a huge breakfast at the bistro, we dogs all had a big run around in the walk.  It was lovely to be with everyone again and rumour has it that there is a girls week (that includes boy dogs I should add) planned for next week so I can't wait.

Note to Mum: a camera needs to come too as we are woefully short of photos at the moment.

Three firsts

A most amazing weekend at the van with lovely sunshine and a walk today at Lyveden New Bield.

I am however a most confused boy as we have had three things occur this weekend that we have never experienced before.

1. Last night whilst I was having my dinner, a chap two doors away brought out a guitar and keyboard and started a sing-a-long around the barbecue

2. We went to bed last night with one set of neighbours and woke up this morning with new ones! Okay, so it was 10am before all the blinds were drawn, but even so..

3. On our way home from our walk today we called in at Pets at Home as Mum wanted 'a couple of bits'.  Imagine our surprise when she came out of the shop empty handed.  None of us have ever seen that before!

That's different

Rufford Pony Club out on force on the front lawns at Thoresby today

Mum apologises for the poor photo quality - her excuse: mobile phone, windy day and two boys to control one of whom (Me I suppose  was particularly skittish ...her word!

CLA Game Fair

The CLA Game fair was held at Harewood House last weekend and here is a photo of all the Welshies who attended and did a sterling job representing the rest of us in the Sporting Gundog Pavilion.

So as well as spending his weekend being an ambassador for our breed, Fergus has also found time to write down his thoughts and memories of 'the walk'.  Here are the first few lines as a taster

Fergus writes:On 1st Jan this year I overheard my humans discussing the idea of walking Wainwright’s Coast to Coast - 192 miles from St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay. Apparently this was something Mum had wanted to do since school................. now that’s a VERY long time!!
Wow! I thought, that sounds like fun - they’d better take me with them or there’ll be trouble!

Sunday

There's nothing better than relaxing after breakfast on a Sunday morning

Weekend away

After a very busy week helping Nana to settle into her new house and meeting up with Fergus after his epic walk, we had a weekend away to recharge the batteries.

We went to our 'van on Friday evening after dinner, so Saturday morning we were up and ready for a day out.  Mum packed a picnic and we headed off to Burghley for a walk around the park.  There were loads of cars there but we never saw anyone on our walk as they were all on the lawn of the house watching a film on a huge screen as part of a film festival.  Mum though she heard the strains of Let it go (from Frozen for those of you who don't know) so was humming that for the rest of the day!

Posing beautifully, but showing I am badly in need of a visit to the grooming table ...
