Burghley House

Yesterday we went to Burghley House and had a lovely, if rather warm, walk around the parkland.  There is a large deer herd that live in the park which are very friendly.  Sandra managed to get really close to some as they were eating their way around a tree!

We are going again next week to meet up with some new Welshies and their owners who have contacted us through our website.  Our old friends Penny and Mack are also coming.  I can't wait.

Today I went for some more gundog training and Charlotte said she was very pleased with my progress.  We did some more work on recalls but this time with a whistle, so I guess we'll be off out later on when it is cooler to practice.

Lincolnshire Show

Murphy and I were taken to the Lincolnshire Show yesterday and had a lovely day with Aunty Debbie, Fergus and Milly.  Sadly there are no photos of our visit as Sandra said she and Aunty Debbie had enough on their hands with the four of us.  They seemed to manage those bacon rolls and cups of tea quite well though.

Dogs have not been allowed at the show before and there weren't many there yesterday either.  We met some very nice people as we walked around who knew that we were Welshies which is always a bonus.  Unfortunately for me there were loads of school children visiting the show, but we managed to avoid most of them.

Murphy and I were really tired by the time we got home so are having a quieter day today.  Sandra's Mum is coming to visit for the weekend later and she is looking after us tomorrow when Sandra and Aunty Debbie have another day out but this time without us!

Training on a Monday?

It's Monday, so why I went to a training session today I'm not too sure.  Sandra took me to see a very nice lady called Charlotte who trains gundogs (which is what I am) to see if she could help with some problems we've been having.  I was a little nervous to start with but soon realised that Charlotte was really nice and we spent a very productive hour working on improving our recall.

Back home and Sandra was busy dealing with lots of emails that Murphy has received via our website.  We have had contact with lots of new people that we are hoping to meet up with for a day out soon, and the good news is that they all will be bringing their Welshies with them!

Other good news today is that we are going away again in our kennel on wheels AND Debbie, Dave and their boys are all coming too which means that Murphy and I will get to meet Dougal.  We are going back to Conkers for a weekend and will be celebrating Dougal's first trip away.  Hmm ...  does that mean we will have cake???

Town Walk

Sandra took us into our local town today for our walk.  She tries to do this regularly as I get quite nervous around lots of people and traffic.  Today wasn't too bad though and I even managed a wag of my tail.  Sandra said she was really pleased with me.

When we got home Murphy got a hair cut!  Sandra said he was looking very woolly, although not as woolly as me ...the cheek of it!  After absolutely ages, she said I would have to wait until tomorrow to be made to look smart as it was nearly dinner time.  I don't mind waiting because it means I got a treat for being good whilst Murphy was trimmed today, and will get another one when I am done tomorrow.  RESULT!

Visiting time

Sandra went to see the newest member of our Welshie group yesterday.  Dougal (who I am told has the same doggy Mum as me) has gone to live with Uncle Dave, Aunty Debbie and their boys.  Apparently he is really cute and very cuddly.  Not sure if I'm too keen on Sandra getting all her cuddles from any Welshie except me and Murphy.

Anyway, you can check Dougal out on our website www.welshspringers.org.uk or visit his blog at http://dougaldogblog.blogspot.com/ where he will be sharing his training tips over the coming months.  Sandra says I must read them because I might learn something .. cheek, I'm perfect!

Yesterday afternoon we went to see Sandra's family to deliver a belated birthday present to Hannah.  We stayed for our tea (yummy chicken) and came home very late.

Today is Tuesday so I'm off to class later.  Must go and make sure Sandra's packed some of that liver cake I saw her taking out of the freezer this morning.

Calke Abbey & Conkers

We went away for the weekend in the big kennel on wheels. Today we went to Calke Abbey. We had a great walk in the estate park. We saw loads of deer and met a nice welshie from Leicestershire. No plans for tomorrow..... have to see what the weather is like.

Tuesday

We collected our kennel on wheels from storage this morning as we are going away for the weekend.  Murphy and I are already excited as we love all the people watching we get to do and exploring new walks.

Tuesday means it's training class day ..  and what a surprise when Pebbles' Mum turned up with a black Labrador - it was Pebbles' new sister Rosie (hope I got the spelling of her name right, Sandra forgot to check!) who is 3 years old and really friendly.  She seemed to enjoy herself at our class and did all of the exercises really well.

I hope Rosie comes to class again, but don't worry Pebbs you're still my favourite girl!

Braham International Horse Trials

Just arrived at Braham to see the horse trials. It's nice and sunny here, but this unfortunately means that there's loads of people here too. We have seen a few other Welshies here too but we have not had a chance to say hello yet.

That lady just fell off her horse.... I don't think she wanted to do that.
